About Us
Meet The Chef.
Chef Matt Valentino is a SC native. He was born in Charleston, SC and raised in Pawley's Island. He moved to Bluffton over 20 years ago and attended the Culinary Institute of Savannah. He has worked for many restaurants and resorts in the area including Palmetto Bluff, Michael Anthonys, OMBRA, and McCrady's in Charleston. He was most recently known for opening the Pearl Kitchen + Bar in oId town Bluffton. In 2018, he started an urban farm where he grows produce for local restaurants. When he is not farming or cooking, Matt loves to spend time with his beautiful wife, Christel, and his two children.

Why We’re Different
I want to produce as many housemade items with as many local fresh ingredients I can source, that suit each dish. I consider my food as "elevated street food" because I want to offer value in our product, and provide an experience that raises the bar compared to others. I am beginning with using local products from our farm, and freeze drying operations, with opportunities to create weekly specials that are unique and different.
About The Truck
What inspired me to start a food truck?
When my wife and I started dating, she bought me a little toy food truck for christmas,and I’ve had that truck sitting by our cookbooks since 2014. My daughter always wanted to play with it growing up, but I held strong and told her it was “my food truck”. This year, my dream finally came true!
I came up with the truck name when a young dishwasher half my age told me,
"yo that food slaps!". Ever since then, I realized I needed to keep up with the lingo these kids are spittin' these days. The Slap! Truck was born and we plan to change the food truck scene.
